Issued as Signet Triple Volume #T934. A Near Fine copy in gloss laminated illustrated wrappers, with the three-stick "triple-decker" spine design. Cover curling slightly, tiny tear to top edge of title leaf, else an unread copy, no spine crimping, corners sharp. 715pp. The narrative had been adapted by Hollywood in 1949 [Warner Brothers, with a screenplay by the Author, starring Gary Cooper, Patricia Neal, Raymond Massey, Kent Smith and Robert Douglass], so it's no surprise the cover illustration features a figure strongly resembling Cooper. Alice O'Connor (born Alisa Zinovyevna Rosenbaum; 1905 1982), better known by her pen name Ayn Rand, was a Russian-born American author and philosopher. She is known for her fiction and for developing a philosophical system she named Objectivism. Born and educated in Russia, she moved to the United States in 1926. After two early novels that were initially unsuccessful and two Broadway plays, Rand achieved fame with her 1943 novel The Fountainhead. In 1957, she published her best-selling work, the novel Atlas Shrugged.
