Condition: both volumes are well-worn with rubbed & scuffed bindings; inner front hinge of volume splitting but still holding. Internally, clean and unmarked. Despite having been well-used, this is still a good, serviceable copy.

Binding and hinges are intact and firm. Contents are crisp, clean, and bright. No markings or signs of prior ownership. Minor shelf-wear or rubbing to extremities. Spine ends lightly bumped. The dustjackets are in very good condition with slight wear to edges and spine ends. Now protected in new clear Mylar wrappers.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. First Edition. 1934. No additional printings noted. No Dust Jackets. Very Solid Bindings. A bit of rubbing as usual to top and bottom of spines and tips. Texts are Very Clean. No writing to text. Volume I is signed by author. I noticed one tiny 1/4" closed tear on the title page of Volume I. Endpapers lightly tanned as usual. And I will mention again that the text is extremely clean. A very nice set. Also laid in is a purchase receipt showing the previous owner paid $125.00 for this set in 1992.

Both volumes are Very Good, minus the DJ's. Minor shelf/edge wear to black cloth spines with silver titles over patterned cloth boards - corners sharp with wear to the tips. Vol 2 has a slight shelf lean. Endpapers have some offsetting. No previous owner markings - all pages are clean and unmarked. Loaded with illustrations , diagrams and photos. One of the classics of the subject. All the great post-war custom gunsmiths had this set in their libraries and they were well used. When you look at a custom rifle from the late 40's through the 60's, you can be sure that the knowledge from this set was a factor in producing it. Highly recommended. A very respectable set, minus the DJ's. LOC SSM-08.
